My Day Off

This item was filled under [ Life Lessons, Relationship Insights ]

Today, I decided to take a day off. I talked to my ‘Boss’, and he said, “Ya, go ahead… spend some time at home with Babe.” :)

Truth is, I did not know how much I needed the day off until I took it.

It’s been a long time since I sat down and watched Babe ate his lunch, helping him clean up whenever the lasagne sauce dripped down his chin. Usually, I am on my way out of the house. Or I will be hurrying ’kakak’ to feed him so that we can bring him out ‘gai gai’. I have forgotten the many delightful expressions he actually has as he savours his food. Today, he had a treat, yummy lasagne instead of his usual porridge. After lunch, we watched an educational video together. I dozed off a little. But Babe was watching intently. And after the video, he walked to his bed, smothered his face into his favourite pillow, and fell asleep.

He’s still sleeping as I am writing this entry.

I have been so busy in the past weeks… the aftermath of the National Day Rally where there has been a huge focus on our industry. I am grateful for the attention our industry has been getting, as it serves as a reminder that many eligible singles use dating services, and it is just another method to widen their social circles.

However, I might have been so busy that I have forgotten to appreciate the many blessings in my life.

I thank God for giving me an opportunity today, to take a step back and reflect. Babe is only a toddler once. When he grows up, even if I want to spend time with him, he might not want to spend time with me.

Oops… he’s awake now… mummy duty calls! :)

My Best Friend’s Birthday

This item was filled under [ Life Lessons ]

mum.jpgToday is my best friend’s birthday.

She is 35 years older than I am. And even as she ages gracefully into her 60s, she still looks fabulous. Much to her delight, many people think she is at least 15 years younger than her real age. I wish I look like her when I am her age.

In the last 28 years that we have been friends, things have not always been smooth. We have not always been the best of friends. We have had shouting feuds, disagreements and cold wars. Many of these shouting matches ended up in tear baths.

I have not always been the most patient of friends. And sometimes, I would even be rude and obstinate. But my best friend’s motto is endure. And now that I look back, she deserves a better friend really.

She is giving and self-sacrificing. She always puts me before herself.

We have many happy moments together. And she has always been there at my side – celebrating my life milestones… my graduation, my wedding, the birth of my babe.

She is always there when I need support, a shoulder to cry on, or just a listening ear to vent to.

To the most amazing woman I have ever known – my best friend, my hero, my dearest mummy… Happy Birthday!

My Favourite Boys :)

After some hectic weeks, finally had some quality time with the family. Brought babe to East Coast Park. It was his first Beach day-out! We built sandcastles, had ice-cream (at least hubby and I did), and cycled around the park on a family bike. It was my first time on a family bike… and at first, we had some problems coordinating. But after that, we were like pros, making u-turns etc. :) And the best thing is to see babe smiling and enjoying himself.

Looking forward to more of todays. :)
